We certainly need to build the fifteen schools in the City of the Future plan. I would like to see us invest in a vocational education institution that also teaches our children the skills to start and run a business. We need to bring all the resources in the community to the table, including the businesses, community colleges and universities to invest and become a part of improving the outcomes for Richmond school students. We need to identify which schools will be closed once new ones are built. In the circumstance where a building is to be demolished and replaced in the same lot with a new one, we cannot move forward until we have a definitive plan, with citizen input, about where our children will be educated during the construction period.
